Tonya is an expert colorist and hairstylist with experience of over 25 years. She is employed and licensed in New York and Connecticut. Throughout her career, Tonya works with a variety of high-end color lines, such as Redken, Wella , Goldwell , Matrix and many more. Currently, Tonya uses a wide range of Goldwell, Loreal , and Redken color lines, including new technology, ammonia free permanent hair colors, Inoa and Nectaya used only in fine salons. Tonya has mastered the technique of Balayage hair color and strategic foil highlights and lowlights with the ability to enhance anyone’s look. Not only are her coloring skills exceptional, Tonya is also well versed in hair cutting techniques including scissor cut, texturizing, razor techniques and clippers cuts. Javier excels in creative color and believes in that “Good color is clean color”. “If it looks good wet, then you know it will look great dry.” His approach to color is unique: enhance what you were born with, factoring in your skin and eye color, natural texture and tonality: “You don’t want to necessarily fight what mother nature has given you, but freshen it up to keep your look current and more youthful.

A versatile and modern colorist, stylist and make-up artist, Katie Doherty brings her fifteen years of experience to Jaafar Tazi Salon. With New York City training and early beginnings at The Studio in Greenwich, CT, Katie has styled for Neiman Marcus and Premier Atelier, formerly Jose Ebier Salon. Her extensive color knowledge includes Redken, Loreal, Goldwell and Schwartzkoff, while her styling knowledge comprises L’oreal, Renee Furterer and Prive NY. Katie’s work has also been featured in multiple newspapers and magazine articles.
